The Massey Ferguson 1734E & 1739E feature Diesel Particulate Filter to meet the Emission Standards. The 1700E Series features an Automatic Regeneration System that requires no user input...does it automatically. Just Keep on Working and the Tractor will take care of itself. Watch as we go through a Regen with the 1734E

How often should the 1734e MF go through regeneration?
Whats the least RPM you should start the MF and what proper RPM should you just normally run at?

The 1700E is a timed Regeneration normally in the 4 to 5 hour range it will start regen. Best to keep RPM in operating range like 1800 RPM+

You need to contact your local dealer it could be locked up in a Regeneration. They can help resolved the concern.

On a 1740E there is a clutch type pulley just above the fan blade. Is this part of the DPF/regen system? Mine started getting hot and smoking during regency cycle.

There is nothing like that in the Regen System. It is all inside the Exhaust/Muffler Cannister that has to do with the Regen Process.

Do you know what that part is or what it does. It is on a belt all by itself. Looks to be an electric clutch type pulley that may run a pump of some kind. There are two belts. One is for water pump and alternator and one with an idler that turns this.

Sorry I was incorrect. we have not had issue with that component here. Had to get my service department involved to learn what it is. Sorry for the misinformation yesterday.

Thank you. Any info would be appreciated as I can’t let it run to complete the regen cycle. Runs ok for a minute or two then starts making noise and smoking hopefully it’s something simple. Tractor only has 20 hours on it.

I would get into your dealer to get it looked at before it gets worse and require more to resolve.

Do you know what this part is called or a part # ? Its called Air Pump in Parts Books. But it may be something else causing it have issues. Emission Warranty is 5 years from the selling dealer. I would recommend getting your dealer involved. Don't want to just start replacing parts because often it can be something else causing the concern and your seeing the result versus cause. You can look at Parts Books online. here is Video we did:

That's a great example of how DPF regen SHOULD work. Mine however is doing stranger things now. I know the flashing DPF light means high soot level, but WHAT DOES A FLASHING HIGH EXHAUST TEMP LIGHT MEAN? Every 4 seconds this light goes off for about 1 second, then comes back on for 4 seconds... repeat. Occasionally the yellow (!) light comes on briefly but does not stay on. No current codes, but history shows "SPN3484 Aftertreatment 1 Ignition" and "SPN3473 Aftertreatment 1 Failed to Ignite."
I have replaced both fuel filters. Could there also be air flow issues relating to the air compressor or air filter? Bad sensor? Burner damage?
Thanks.
